sunday services
Overview
Sunday worship at Glenfield Baptist Church is about glorifying God, connecting as family, and being shaped by Christ through Word, Spirit, and community. Each service lasts a little over an hour, with fellowship time afterwards.
Prayer in the Upper Room – open to anyone who would like to join the pastor and elders in preparing hearts.
A Warm Welcome – our greeting team offers a friendly hello and name tags, helping us connect and care for one another by name.
You can expect a rhythm of:
Opening prayer
Lighting of the Candles of Joy and Sorrow, recognising both celebration and lament
Notices and upcoming events
Celebrations time for birthdays, anniversaries, school achievements, and answered prayers
Scripture readings in different heart languages, reflecting the diversity of our church family
Communion on the first Sunday of the month
A blessing for children before they head to their groups
A message rooted in Scripture, followed by praise, prayer, and space for the Spirit to lead
Coffee and tea together in the lounge
Shared lunch on Communion Sundays, celebrating our unity in Christ across generations
We love having children and young people as part of our church family. After the children’s blessing, they join age-specific groups designed to help them grow in faith:

Under 3s – Auditorium
Infants through to 3 year olds stay in the service, with a dedicated space at the back called The Hearth, a nurturing place to explore faith through play and simple Bible stories.
Ages 3 – Year 1 – Lounge (Bright Sparks)
Young hearts discover the joy of learning about God through fun, engaging activities that lay the foundation for a lifelong relationship with Christ.
Years 2 – 5 – Lower Hall (Ignite)
Children grow curious about faith, learning how it connects with everyday life and discovering that God is real, good, and loves them.
Years 6 – 8 – Upper Room (Ablaze)
Preteens explore their faith with passion, building community and learning how to bring gospel change wherever they are.
Visiting somewhere new can feel a bit awkward. Here’s a glimpse of what it’s like at Glenfield Baptist Church, so you know you’ll be among whānau.
sunday services
ContactMost people dress casually. The main thing is that you feel comfortable — we’re pretty sure what you wear doesn’t matter to God, so it doesn’t to us either!
Yes. We have a wheelchair-accessible ramp at the main entrance, and can arrange seating if needed.
There’s also a quiet area in the Upper Room with a live feed of the service for those sensitive to noise. If you have specific needs, let us know beforehand so we can support you.
Our Sunday service starts at 10am, with doors open from 8am. We finish by 12:30pm to make space for the Korean congregation. Office hours run Monday–Friday by appointment.
Prayer is offered after every service at the cross in the back of the auditorium. You can also share prayer requests with our prayer chain (detailed or anonymous). Communion is celebrated together on the first Sunday of each month.
Absolutely! You don’t need to be Baptist to join us. Whether you’re exploring faith, new to church, or from a different Christian tradition, you’re warmly welcome here.
Yes. We have discipleship groups, men’s ministry, and kids’ programmes like Light Nights and 4KIDS OSCAR/holiday programmes through Glenfield Action Trust. Ask us on Sunday or get in touch to learn more.
There are upper and lower car parks on site, including accessible spaces close to the main entrance.
Look for our Duty Elder (wearing a lanyard) or anyone on the welcome team — they’d love to help, answer questions, or pray with you.
